Qatar’s Public Works Authority (Ashghal) announced the use of advanced technologies and modern equipment to improve the efficiency of curb construction and paving works across infrastructure projects.

The authority has deployed Wirtgen SP 25 machinery, featuring a modular design that adapts to different site requirements through internal and external paving systems, while enabling quick movement between work locations.

Ashghal said the technology reduces reliance on labor-intensive methods, improves resource utilization, and allows full-section concrete pours to be completed in a single pass at high speeds, eliminating multiple traditional construction stages. This helps improve work quality and shorten project timelines.

The machinery is equipped with advanced control systems using three-dimensional technology for precise level and cross-slope management, as well as Wirtgen’s AutoPilot system, which enables construction without traditional stringline guidance by using virtual paths created from digital models.

According to Ashghal, these technologies enhance construction accuracy, particularly on complex alignments, curves and roundabouts, supporting more efficient project delivery and higher-quality infrastructure works.

The move aligns with Qatar’s efforts to integrate innovative construction technologies into major infrastructure projects to improve productivity, quality and sustainability.
